The shelves are 14 inches deep. At almost six feet tall, with a sideways capacity of over three feet, this is a behemoth of a bookcase. The iron frame is welded together and very slim, to avoid some weight and allow maximum room for the shelves. Plywood wasn't the most fashionable lumber selection, but the reclaimed world is never ostentatious. Plywood with an oak veneer gives these shelves a subtle touch of panache that you wouldn't normally find in a recycled piece.
